Steps
Basic 1
On The Spot - the dancer steps on the spot to the music. This step can be used on the spot or to travel around the dance floor in any direction.
Basic 2
Forward and Back Step - this step is similar to the forward and back Salsa step but the other way round, left back right forward.Basic 3
Diagonal back- this step is predominantly used by the follower, the step is taken diagonally back from a central point. Care should be taken not to over turn or cross behind and weight must be kept centered. This step is the basis for the follower's boneca (the doll).
Basic 4
Diagonal forward - this step is predominantly used by the leader, the step is taken diagionally forward and is used to open the follower and to start the turn. This step is the basis for the leader's boneca (the doll).
Basic 5
Side step - this step is also used by the leader to open the follower but the diagonal step is preferred because it promotes the circular aspect of Lambada. It is the basis for a number of simple turns in the dance.
Basic 6
Cross step - this step is used by all and consists of a longer step taken on the main beat of the music and a turn in direction on the small steps.
Lambada turns
Basic turns are stepped on the full count in Lambada, not spun on a single beat as in Salsa.
